Latest News:
With snow and ice already hitting the North of the country, it won’t be long before those of us who have not yet been affected, have to face the disruption of bad weather on our businesses.
As experts in providing Human Resource solutions we at HR Advantage understand that the two most common concerns for business owners are around both the pay and safety of employees who are at work or trying to travel to/with work.
Why not prepare yourself for the bad weather with our 2 step plan to avoiding an avalanche?
Introduce and circulate an Adverse Weather Policy
This will make it clear to your employees, in advance, what will happen in the event of bad weather. Make sure that you cover your expectations of employees attending work and issues surrounding pay if they are not able to attend. Remember that whilst you are not obliged to pay employees who have not attended work, employees who are treated well in these circumstances will be much more motivated and committed to a fair-minded employer than those who are penalised for circumstances beyond their control.
Do an Adverse Weather risk assessment
If you have any further concerns on this matter or indeed general HR then why not have a chat with us? Call us now on 01494 451 681.
From a health and safety perspective as an employer and business you also have a duty of care to employees and all those who may be affected by your business or activities, this includes visitors, contractors and members of the public accessing your premises.
